Using You Tube videos for teaching conversational English can lead to some interesting and creative learning experiences. How to incorporate them into online conversational English lessons can however pose a problem.
If for example you use a medium like Skype to conduct your lessons then playing the video during your lesson can interfere with the actually conversation practice since you will hear the soundtrack in your headphones.
One approach I have used is to get the learner to view the video before the lesson and then discuss the contents during your online English conversation. As their teacher you will also of course need to view the You Tube video beforehand.
Recently I have found several You Tube videos that also contain a script for the conversation which you could use as a basis for your online lesson.
The featured You Tube video today is from a series done by the BBC which lend themselves for use in online conversational English lessons.
