Animal Idioms-Pig

Time for some more English idioms, sticking with animals I thought I would choose the pig today. Here are a few that spring to mind.

  1. Pig in a poke.
  2. To make a pigs ear of something.
  3. Pigs might fly.
  4. Make a pig of yourself.
  5. Sweat like a pig.
  6. Squeal like a stuck pig.
  7. Pig out.
Try and see if you can figure out the meaning! If you get stuck you can look them up here.

I'm just discovering your blog through a link at Sally's Sydney Daily Photo.

I'm French and spent six years in Sydney. I'm quite passionate about the English language and although I consider myself almost bilingual I know I still have plenty to learn. Your blog is a great resource, I'll come back!

Mike Rose
I have lived in Thailand since I retired from teaching in the UK in January 2008. Home is a bungalow about 2km from the Gulf of Thailand and 8km south of the town of Prachuap Khiri Khan. I am one of the few foreigners that live in this area. I am a keen birder and photographer although I have a lot to learn about both subjects! I also enjoy blogging and visiting temples and other cultural and wildlife sites in the country. I am trying to learn the Thai language, but I think you could say that it remains a work in progress.
